Plan one regular-grid pallet with height, weight and quantity limits.

Pallet

Preset footprints are planning defaults. Pallet construction, height, tare weight and permitted load vary by design and operator requirements.

Limits

Maximum loaded height includes the pallet. Maximum gross weight includes pallet tare weight.

How to use

Plan one pallet in five clear steps.

Use one carton type, one pallet footprint and transparent regular-grid limits.

  1. 1

    Choose a pallet

Select EUR, ISO, US Standard or enter a custom footprint.

  2. 2

    Enter pallet limits

Add pallet height, maximum loaded height and gross-weight limits.

  3. 3

    Enter carton details

Add outside carton dimensions and gross weight.

  4. 4

    Set rotation and quantity

Allow base rotation if operationally acceptable and add shipment cartons.

  5. 5

    Review the pallet plan

See TI, HI, cartons per pallet and pallet positions.

What this calculator helps with

Make pallet decisions with clearer limits.

Use it for regular-grid planning, not a certified stacking or loading plan.

Export pallet planning

Estimate pallet positions before booking freight.

Warehouse palletization

Check TI, HI and partial top layers.

Supplier packaging review

Compare carton footprints against a pallet.

FCL / LCL preparation

Prepare pallet counts before later freight planning.

Ecommerce shipment planning

Estimate pallet quantities for fulfilment moves.

Carton / pallet fit check

Confirm both tested base orientations.

Transparent methodology

Formula & assumptions.

A regular rectangular-grid pallet calculator with optional 90° base rotation.

Calculation formula

TI = floor(pallet L ÷ carton base A) × floor(pallet W ÷ carton base B)

HI = floor((maximum loaded height − pallet height) ÷ carton height)

Height capacity = TI × HI

Available cargo weight = maximum gross weight − pallet tare weight

Weight capacity = floor(available cargo weight ÷ carton weight)

Cartons per pallet = lower of height and weight capacity

Pallets required = ceil(shipment quantity ÷ cartons per pallet)

Finished pallet height = pallet height + used layers × carton height

Height utilization = finished pallet height ÷ maximum loaded height

Weight utilization = gross pallet weight ÷ maximum gross weight

Planning limits

  • Regular rectangular grid only; the carton height remains vertical.
  • Only one carton orientation is used in each layer. Rotation means a 90° base rotation, not mixed layers.
  • Each carton footprint remains within the pallet footprint: no overhang is allowed; interlocking, compression analysis and overhang optimization are not modelled.
  • Partial top layers are allowed.
  • This is not a safe pallet-load certification, engineering-approved stacking plan or container loading calculation.
  • Actual loading depends on carton strength, fragility, centre of gravity, pallet construction and rating, wrap or straps, handling equipment, warehouse rules, carrier requirements and local safety requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you stack.

Understand what this regular-grid pallet plan can guide — and what it cannot guarantee.

Does this create a 3D pallet layout?⌄

No. It calculates one regular rectangular grid and does not create an exact warehouse loading map.

Can cartons rotate on the pallet?⌄

You can allow a 90° base rotation. It compares two separate regular-grid orientations; it does not mix them in one layer.

Does maximum loaded height include the pallet?⌄

Yes. The available carton stacking height is maximum loaded height minus pallet height.

What if I do not enter a gross weight limit?⌄

The tool uses the height-limited capacity and marks the weight limit and utilization as not evaluated.

Can the final layer be partially filled?⌄

Yes. A weight-limited pallet can use a partial top layer, which still takes one carton height.

Should I confirm operating limits?⌄

Yes. Confirm pallet rating, carton strength, handling method, carrier rules and local safety requirements before shipping.
